11. Matthew Briggs . Son of Thomas Briggs & Margaret Darling. Born Approx 1858 in Harvey.

 

    From Weekly Telegraph, 22 Sep 1880: "Married 15th inst., by Rev. A. J. Mowatt, assisted by Rev. Joseph Barker of Sheffield, Matthew Briggs of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Mary Little, third daughter of David Little, Esq. of Manners Sutton, York Co."

 

    Witnesses to marriage were A. Lawson and Robert Ballentine.

 

     Matthew was 72 years of age and living in Minnesota in the 1930 US Census.

    He married Mary Elizabeth Little, daughter of David Little & Margaret Ann Herbert, 15 Sep 1880 in York Co., NB By Rev. A. J. Mowatt . Born 8 Feb 1856 in Harvey. Died 23 Jan 1913 in Harvey. Buried in Harvey Settlement Cemetery.

 

    At the time of their marriage in 1880, Matthew's home was listed as Minneapolis, Minnesota, and they lived in Minnesota for a number of years, however Mary returned to Harvey about 20 years prior to her death.

    From newspaper obituary in The Daily Gleaner, 27 Jan 1913:

 

    Mrs Mary E. Briggs

    Harvey Station, Jan 24 -- Mrs Mary E. Briggs died at her home here yesterday morning after a brief illness.   She was a daughter of the late David Little of Harvey Settlement, and of Mrs Margaret Little, whose death occurred in the same house only a fortnight ago.   Her early years were spent at Little Settlement.   She afterwards resided for some time in Minnesota, but for the last twenty years or more she has resided with her mother here.   She was possessed of many good qualities and had a wide circle of friends who will regret to hear of her death.

 

    She is survived by one son, Cyrus D. Briggs, who arrived from Minneapolis just in   time to see his mother die.   She is also survived by two brothers, Messrs. Thomas and Eben Little, of Coburn, and one sister, Mrs W. W. E. Smith, of this place.

 

    They had the following children:
