30. Margaret L. "Maggie" Wilkin . Daughter of Herbert Wilkin & Jane Gass. Born 12 Jul 1868 in Harvey. Died 1952. Buried in Rockland Cemetery, McAdam.

 

   She married Thomas "Herbert" Little, son of James Little & Isabella "Belle" Herbert, 2 Jun 1886 in Harvey Presbyterian Church Records By J. A. McLean . Born 21 Apr 1856 in Harvey. Died 16 Jun 1924 in McAdam. Buried in Rockland Cemetery, McAdam.

 

    Witnesses to marriage were George Little and Janet Wilkins.

    Herbert Little and his second wife, Margaret "Maggie" Wilkin, lived in Harvey until approximately 1916, then moved to McAdam.   They had five children:   Hugh, Jean, Geoffrey, Raymond and Nicholas.   For details of this family, see page 48, "The Little Family of Harvey Settlement 1786-1992" compiled by Janet Swan Watson, Brenda Saunders Swan and Jocelean Swan Hall.

 

    From newspaper obituary - 1924:

    Herbert Little

    McAdam, June 20 -- The death of Herbert Little occurred here on Monday morning June 16 after an illness of a few weeks.   Mr Little was born in Harvey, York County, 68 years ago where he spent the greater part of his life.   Eight years ago he moved to McAdam.   He leaves his wife, one daughter, Mrs Edward Young; four sons, Hugh, Geoffrey, Raymond and Nicholas, all of McAdam; also two sisters, Mrs Janet Nesbitt of Little Settlement; Mrs Fred Johnson of Lawrence Station; and four brothers, Robert, James, Frederick and George all of York Mills.

    The funeral took place from his home here on Tuesday, June 17 being largely attended both by people of McAdam and the outside districts.   Rev. George Bond, D.D. officiated.   The pallbearers were his four sons.

 

    They had the following children:

31. Katherine Reynolds Wilkin . Daughter of Herbert Wilkin & Jane Gass. Born 20 May 1871 in Wilmot, York Co. Christen 25 Aug 1871 in St. Anne's Chapel Records, Fredericton. Died 22 May 1947 in McAdam. Buried in Harvey Settlement Cemetery. Occupation School Teacher.

    From St. Anne's Chapel, Fredericton records:   "Born 20 May 1871, baptized 25 Aug 1871, Catherine Reynolds, d/o Herbert and Jane Wilkin, Harvey, Farmer, by Charles Lee."    (PANB F1114, St. Anne's Chapel.)

 

32. Beatrice Wilkin . Daughter of Herbert Wilkin & Jane Gass. Born 1 Dec 1873 in Harvey. Died 20 May 1960 in McAdam. Buried in Rockland Cemetery, McAdam.

    She married Alfred "Fred" Embleton, son of Michael Embleton & Mary Elizabeth Thomas, 11 Jun 1902 in Harvey Presby. Church. Born 6 Jun 1875 in Harvey. Died 10 Jul 1971. Buried in Rockland Cemetery, McAdam. Occupation Operated A General Store In McAdam.

    In early life, Fred conducted a lumbering business until 1910 when he went to McAdam to operate a general store in partnership with William Lister.   He retired in 1940   They had one child:   Katherine.

 

    They had the following children:

33. James Herbert Wilkin . Son of Herbert Wilkin & Jane Gass. Born 11 Mar 1875 in Wilmot, York Co. Died 31 Jul 1962 in Harvey Community Hospital. Buried 2 Aug 1962 in Harvey Settlement Cemetery. Occupation Farmer.

 

    In 1891 Census, James is listed as grandson of Herbert and Jane.

    Died 31 Jul 1962, age 87 yr 4 mo 20 days, at Harvey Hospital.

 

   He married Agnes Isabella Smith, daughter of Alexander James Smith & Mary Bell, 20 Sep 1905 in Harvey Presbyterian Church Records. Born 7 Jan 1881 in Wilmot, York Co. Died 18 Jan 1964 in Wilmot. Buried in Harvey Settlement Cemetery.

    From funeral home records, died 18 Jan 1864, age 83 yr 11 days, died at home in Wilmot.
