138. Bruce Alexander Little. Son of Alexander William Little & Agnes Little. Born Oct 1896 in Harvey Station, NB. Died 24 Jun 1936 in Moncton City Hospital, Moncton. Buried in Brockway Union Cemetery. Occupation Farmer.

    Copied from newspaper obituary (1936)--

Bruce A. Little, 39 Succumbs Suddenly While on Business Trip to Moncton

Bruce Alexander Little, 39, met with sudden death in the Moncton City Hospital while on a visit there Wednesday of last week.  Taken suddenly ill after supper Tuesday evening, he was rushed to hospital where he died less than 24 hours later of complications arising from a punctured esophagus.  The immediate cause of death was strangulation.  Food escaping from the esophagus caused the collapse of one lung and forced his heart out of its normal position, but an autopsy performed in Moncton failed to disclose the presence of any foreign substance that would have injured his esophagus.

His wife, formerly Dorothy Forsythe of Little Ridge and Mr Maxwell were with him when he died.  His mother, Mrs Alex Little, also went to Moncton but left to return home after it appeared that her son was on the road to recovery.  Besides his wife, he is survived by four small sons:  James, Gray, William Irving and Maxwell Bruce, two brothers and two sisters.

News of his passing in the prime of his life came as a shock and occasioned wide spread sorrow in this vicinity where he was widely known and where his jovial friendly nature made him a favorite with all.  In his own community, he was a leading figure, a successful farmer.

He was born in Harvey, but the family moved to Old Bay Road when he was still a boy.  For some years he was a traveller for the Gunn Packing Company and later for Christie, Brown and Company, leaving his position to go into partnership with his brother Elmer, in farming on his father's farm on Old Bay Road.  The brothers in addition to general farming operated an extensive milk route to St. Stephen.

He married Dorothy E. Forsyth. Born 24 Oct 1906. Died 31 Dec 1983 in St. Stephen. Buried in Brockway Union Cemetery.

Dorothy was a daughter of William Forsyth and Charlotte Maxwell.

Bruce and Dorothy lived on a farm on the Old Bay Road, St. Stephen, and had five children, the youngest born soon after Bruce's death.

From The Telegraph Journal, 3 Jan 1984:

LITTLE -- At St. Stephen, December 31, 1983, Mrs Dorothy E. Little, of St. Stephen, widow of Bruce A. Little, survived by four sons, two sisters, one brother, 17 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Resting at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 20 Marks Street, St. Stephen, from where funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 pm.  Interment in the Brockway Union Cemetery.

   They had the following children:

402 i. James A. Little

403 ii. Gray Robert Little

404 iii. William Irving Little

405 iv. Maxwell Bruce Little

406 v. Bruce Alden Little
