2. Elizabeth Messer . Daughter of William Messer & Alice (Or Alison) Brown. Born 17 June 1827 in Downham, Northumberland, christened 25 June 1827, Crookham Presbyterian Church. Died 26 Sep 1904 in Harvey. Buried in Harvey Settlement Cemetery. Religion Presbyterian.

    Elizabeth came to NB with the pioneer settlers of Harvey Settlement in 1837.

 

     She married Andrew Wood Cockburn (Coburn), son of John Cockburn (Coburn) & Elizabeth "Betsy" Lesley, 9 Mar 1850. Born 27 May 1827 in Eng. Christen 4 Jun 1827 in Norham. Died 19 Apr 1907 in Harvey. Buried in Harvey Settlement Cemetery. Occupation Farmer. Religion Presbyterian.

 

    Andrew came to NB with his parents and siblings in 1837 and were among the pioneer settlers of Harvey Settlement.

 

    Andrew and his wife Elizabeth Messer lived in Harvey and were farmers.   (The farm was later known as the Fred Hanselpacker farm.)

 

    The 1861 Census for Manners Sutton show that they owned or occupied 40 acres improved land and 260 acres unimproved land; cash value of farm was 200 pounds; value of implements and machinery, 14 pounds.   They had 2 horses, 3 milch cows, 6 other neat cattle, 10 sheep, 2 swine, and slaughtered 300 lb. pork.   Produced 200 lb. butter; 40 lb. wool; 16 tons hay; 200 bu. oats; 60 bu. buckwheat; 7 bu. timothy; 50 bu. turnips; and 100 bu. potatoes.

 

    They had the following children:
