46. John Alexander Wightman. Son of John Wightman & Ann Isabel "Annie" Messer. Born 20 Mar 1862 in Harvey. Christen 15 Jun 1862 in Presbyterian Church, Harvey. Died 26 Feb 1936 in Tweedside. Buried in Harvey Settlement Cemetery. Occupation Farmer. Religion Presbyterian.

 

    Life long resident of Tweedside.   Died at the home of his niece, Mrs Carrol Patterson.   He played the violin.   Unmarried.

    From newspaper obituary - 1936:  

    Died at Harvey, John Wightman, Tweedside Farmer, Died at Home of Daughter (sic)

     Harvey Station, Feb 26--The death of John Wightman, aged 74, occurred this afternoon at the home of his niece, Mrs Karl (sic) Patterson, where he had been ill for the last three weeks.   He was a well known farmer and a life long resident of Tweedside.   He leaves to mourn three sisters, Mrs Thomas Moffitt, Mrs Thomas Grieve and Mrs Frederick Grieve all of Harvey and a number of nieces and nephews.
