Descendents of Thomas Piercy (ca 1760 - unknown)
and Elizabeth Unknown (unknown)

Generation 4
*********************************************************************************************
44. Elizabeth Ann "Betsy Ann" Coburn. Daughter of George Cockburn (Coburn) & Mary Piercy. Born 16 Feb 1849 in Harvey. Died 27 Feb 1902 in Harvey. Buried in Harvey Settlement Cemetery.

From Daily Telegraph, 21 Jun 1873: "Married Harvey 17th inst., by Rev Samuel Johnson, John C. Pass and Miss Elizabeth Ann Cockburn."

Witnesses to the marriage were W. V. Pass and Isabella Cockburn.
She married John Cockburn "Jack" Pass, son of William Pass & Charlotte Cockburn (Coburn), 17 Jun 1873 in Harvey Presbyterian Church Records By Rev. Samuel Johnson . Born 31 Oct 1852 in Harvey (Acton). Christen 23 Mar 1852 in St. Paul's Church Records. Died 8 May 1891 in Harvey. Buried in Harvey Settlement Cemetery. Occupation Farmer.

After the death of Jack and his wife Betsy Ann, the property was sold to William Grieve on 28 Nov 1902 for the sum of $1150. The property included the southeastern half of lot #6, 50 acres, in Harvey Settlement; and lot #6 second tier east of Cranberry Lake, 100 acres. As three of the Pass children--Arthur Gordon Pass, Lila Elizabeth Pass and William Everett Pass were infants (within the ages of twenty-one) the Supreme Court of Equity of NB on 21 March 1902 appointed John M. Swan their guardian and empowered to sell their estate rights jointly with the other Pass children, Mary Ann McCully and her husband John McCully, blacksmith, McAdam; Susan Charlotte Campbell and her husband George H. Campbell, commercial traveller, London, Ontario; and George Venables Pass, labourer. However before the conveyance of the land to William Grieve could be executed John M. Swan died, and on 11 Nov 1902 James Coburn was appointed guardian, and empowered to complete the sale of the said infants interests. (Information from In The Supreme Court in Equity, Indenture #52153, John C. Pass (Heirs) to William Grieve.)

Besides the parents, three children died between the period 1891 and 1902. Church records indicate that one son died of consumption, so possibly the others also died of the same disease.

From The Gleaner, Fredericton, 16 May 1891:
John Pass, well known resident of Harvey Station (York Co.) is a victom of la grippe. He was in his 45th year and leaves a wife and nine children. Deceased was interred in the Presbyterian cemetery there.
