1. Marshall Robison I . Born 1787 in Hawick, Scotland. Died 11 Apr 1862 in Harvey. Buried in Harvey Settlement Cemetery. Occupation Farmer.

 

    In older records and obituaries the surname is often spelled "Robinson".

    Marshall and his wife Jane Dickson lived in Wooler, Northumberland Co., England prior to coming to NB in 1842.   Their son William arrived in NB, as a single man, with the first settlers of Harvey Settlement in 1837, and arranged for land for the family.

 

    The 1851 Census, Marshall was 60, English, farmer/proprietor, wife Jane was 60, son Marshall, 25, farmer, son Stephen was 20, all came to this country in 1842.

 

    In the 1861 Census, Marshall Robison, Head of family,   was 75,   his wife Jane was 73, and son Stephen was 30 years old.   They employed 3 males, 3 females; owned or occupied 80 acres improved land and 330 acres unimproved land.   Cash value of farm, 400 pounds; cash value of implements and machinery, 20 pounds; had 2 horses, 8 milch cows, 2 working oxen, 3 other neat cattle, 12 sheep, 4 swine, and 500 lb. pork slaughtered.   Produced 700 lb. butter, 180 lb. cheese, 48 lb. wool; 25 tons hay off 30 acres; 300 bu. oats - 8 acres; 50 bu. buckwheat - 1 1/2 acres; 20 bu. timothy seed; and 150 bu potatoes - 1 acre.

 

    From New Brunswick Courier, 3 May 1862:   "Died Harvey Settlement, Monday morn., 14th ult., Marshall Robinson, age 76."

 

    He married Jane Dickson. Born 1788 in Branxson, Northumberland, England. Died 8 Oct 1871 in Harvey. Buried in Harvey Settlement Cemetery.

 

     From Colonial Farmer, 23 October 1871:

    Died Harvey, 8th ult., Jane Robinson, relict of Marshall Robinson.   The deceased was a native of Branxson, Northumberland, England and emigrated to America in 1842.   She was the mother of nine children, five of whom, together with 44 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, survive.

 

 

    They had the following children:
