Alwinton Church
George, Archibald and Robert Herbert, brothers of Thomas Herbert (1796), are buried here.
Wanless relatives are also buried here. The Selbys of Biddlestone have a family vault within the church.
The Herberts and Wanlesses were tenant farmers for the Selbys.

Margaret Davidson married George Embleton.

Biddlestone, Old Rookland Farm
Robert Herbert (1768-1846) and his family were tenant farmers here.
His wife Isabella, nee Wanless, died here in 1831.
Her body was taken across the hills for burial at Hownam, Scotland.
