5. William Rutherford. Son of Archibald Rutherford. Born in Scotland. Died 1853 in Harvey Settlement.
In the spring of 1852 William Rutherford arrived in Harvey Settlement with his father, Archibald, brothers John and Thomas and sisters Margaret (who married John T. Thompson) and Alison (also Alison's 6 year old daughter Alison). A brother Robert remained in Scotland. On June 12, 1852 Archibald purchased Lot #12 second tier west from James Nesbitt. Archibald died about September 1853 and William died sometime prior to his father's death and after his marriage to Jane. (NB Land Petition. 1855 RS108 NBFA F 5932; NB Crown Land Grant. He married Jane Craig, daughter of James Craigs & Mary Hume, 2 Oct 1852 in Fredericton By Rev. Dr. John M. Brooke . Born 1837 in England.
From York Co NB Marriage Register C 1850-1866 (PANB): Witnesses to marriage were James Carmichael and Elizabeth Thompson.
Jane came to New Brunswick as an infant with her mother, Mary and her aunt and uncle, Margaret Hume and John Carmichael in 1837.
Jane was listed on the Communion Roll for the Harvey Presbyterian Church in 1856 but was later "removed". No further information.
Jane and William Rutherford had two children: Unnamed child born prior to 15 Feb 1855, and Josephine Rutherford born 14 Oct 1855.
