Widely Known Harvey Resident, Dies, Buried
Harvey Station - The death of Harry T. Swan occurred at Harvey Community Hospital following a brief illness.
Mr Swan was born at Tweedside in York County 71 years ago, a son of the late John and Mary (Coburn) Swan. Most of his life was spent in this community where he was a well known carpenter. He was also a mill operator for many years and was well and favorably known. He was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church and an elder for forty years; a charter member of Cherry Mountain Lodge No. 50 F.A.A.M., a member of Unity Chapter No. 35 O.E.S., a member of the Management Board of Harvey Community Hospital and the County Finance Unit. He took an active part in all community affairs and will be greatly missed by a large circle of friends and relatives.
Mr Swan is survived by his wife, formerly Miss Lottie Briggs of Harvey; three daughters, Mrs James Craig of Fredericton, Mrs Herb Swan and Mrs Allison Knowlton of Harvey; three brothers, Arthur Swan, Fredericton, George Swan, Portland, Oregon, and John Swan of Harvey; two sisters, Mrs James R. Swan, Tweedside, and Mrs Harold Langley, Brockway, NB; six grandchildren, Sheila and LeRoy Knowlton, Paul, Larry and Dale Swan and Nancy Craig.
A son, Allen Swan, predeceased him.
The funeral was held from Knox Church following prayers at his late home. Rev. Dr. Watson of Fredericton conducted the service assisted by the choir of Knox Church who sang "Sweet Hour of Prayer" and "Breathe On Me Breath of God." The church was filled to capacity and many stood outdoors. Floral tributes were very numerous and beautiful, prominent were the Eastern Star and the Masonic Emblem.
Dr. Watson brought a comforting message to the bereaved family and spoke of the life of the deceased in his home, his church and the community.
They had the following children:
