28. Frederick Thomas "Fred" Lister. Son of David Lister & Janet "Jessie" Torrance. Born 30 Sep 1878 in Harvey. Christen 29 Dec 1878 in Harvey Presbyterian Church. Died 1957 in St. Joseph's Hospital, Saint John. Buried in Rockland Cemetery, McAdam. Occupation Collector For Customs And Excise Department.

    Names given as "Thomas Frederick" in church baptism records.

    Frederick Thomas Lister

    Customs Man Died Port City Hospital

    McAdam -- The death occurred at St. Joseph's Hospital, Saint John, after a lingering illness of Frederick Thomas Lister, a well-known retired collector of customs at McAdam.  He passed away at the age of 79.

    Mr Lister was the son of the late David and Jessie (Torrence) Lister of Harvey Station.  He came to McAdam in his youth and entered the employ of the CPR, working in various departments, later entering into the general store business in McAdam.  In 1904 he entered the Customs and Excise Department, later being promoted to the position of Collector which he maintained until his retirement in 1946 after 42 years of service.

    He was most active in church and community life, being a trustee and a member of the session of St. Paul's United Church as well as the senior choir.  He also served on the board of school trustees and was secretary-treasurer of McAdam Electric Light Commission for 29 years.  During this service, he was included in the King's Honor List on two occasions and on each was presented a silver medal which commemorated acts of executive ability.

    He is survived by his wife, the former Almeda Love of St. Stephen; one son, W. Holly Lister, of McAdam; three sisters, Misses Mary and Lena Lister, both of McAdam, and Mrs Spurgeon Ellis (Annie) of Berlin, N.H., several nephews and nieces.

    He married Almeda Lavinia Love, 6 May 1908 in Saint John Co., NB. Born May 1872 in St. David, Charlotte Co. Died 16 Oct 1972 in Swanhaven Nursing Home, Harvey. Buried in Rockland Cemetery, McAdam.

    Mrs Frederick Lister

    McAdam -- Funeral service for one of York County's oldest citizens Mrs Amelda (Love) Lister was held from St. Paul's United Church here with Rev. Kenneth Campbell officiating.

    The pallbearers were Alton Lister, Gifford Lister, Gary a son of William and Eileen Lister, Samuel Weelock, Donald Mersereau and Neil Anderson.

    Interment was made in the Rockland Cemetery, McAdam.

    Mrs Lister celebrated her 100th birthday in May.  Her death occurred at the Swanhaven Nursing Home, Harvey Station following an illness of a few months.  Born at St. David, Charlotte County, she was a daughter of the late James and Janet (Maxwell) Love.  She came to McAdam in 1907.  Her husband Frederick Thomas Lister predeceased her in 1957.

    Mrs Lister enjoyed good health until her 100th birthday, prior to that she held membership in the United Church Women, held various offices in the church and was a member of the choir.

    Surviving are one son, Holly of McAdam; one sister Mrs Frederick Graham of South Carolina, several nieces and nephews.

    They had the following child:
