Unknown subject. Incorrectly identified (inked in identification in blbie made much later) in the bible as James Patterson. As many images of James Patterson are in existence from most stages of his life it was easy to determine that this man is not James. The image is a tintype, which seems to characterize people from the Harvey area in this album. Since all adult Patterson's from the 1870's are accounted for the image may be of a relative of Margaret Isabella Embleton, the wife of William Patterson, Jr. since this bible resided in their household during that time frame.

Tin type, ca 1870
Original image in collection of Beryl (Swan) Johnston, Harvey Station, N.B.
Medium sized pop-up Image
700 X 1035, 72 dpi, 231 k

Full sized pop-up Image

DUNSE.

The presence of this photograph in the Patterson family bible suggests that some correspondence was taking place between William Patterson and relatives in the United Kingdom for some time through the late 19th century. Several examples of this photo back were found on the internet suggesting that the Davidson Studio had a large clientele. Dunse is in Berwickshire just north of Berwick-Upon-Tweed.
