9. George Embleton . Son of George Embleton & Margaret Davidson. Born 4 May 1818 in Eng. Christen 8 Jun 1828 in Ilderton, Eng. Died 2 Dec 1880 in Harvey. Buried in Harvey Settlement Cemetery. Occupation Farmer, Carpenter.

     George and Elizabeth with their sons George and Robert, emigrated to New Brunswick in 1842.

     George farmed on Land Grant lot No. 13, tier 3, SE Harvey Settlement, 100 acres.   The 1861 census lists George as a farmer/carpenter.   They owned or occupied 50 acres improved and 70 acres unimproved land.   Cash value of farm was 150 pounds, and value of implements and machinery was 5 pounds.   They had one horse, 4 milch cows, 2 working oxen, 2 other neat cattle, 8 sheep, 3 swine, 300 lb. pork slaughtered, produced 300 lb. butter, 40 lb. wool, 10 ton hay, 200 bu. oats, 80 bu. buckwheat, 10 bu. timothy, 50 bu. turnips and 100 bu. potatoes.

    The farm went to Elisha Embleton, the youngest son, by the following Quit Claim deed in 1880:

    Joseph T. Embleton et al to Elisha Embleton } No. 31848.   Know all men by these Presents that we George Embleton and Ann his wife, Thomas A. Embleton and Margaret his wife of Parish of Dumfries, Michael Embleton and Mary E. his wife; Joseph T. Embleton and Isabella his wife and David Embleton of the parish of Manners Sutton and all in the County of York and Province of New Brunswick; Robert Cleland and Jane T. his wife in the Parish of St. Stephen, George Coffey and Margaret I. D. his wife of the parish of St. Stephen and County of Charlotte, Province of New Brunswick; William Embleton and Elizabeth M. his wife of Carleton, County of St. John, Province of New Brunswick, and Robert Embleton and Elizabeth his wife of Bancroft Davius (?) County, Missouri, United States, in consideration of the sum of one dollar to each to be paid by Elisha Embleton of Parish of Manners Sutton, County of York, Farmer, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged Do hereby convey remise release and for ever quit claim unto the said Elisha Embleton his heirs and assigns a certain lot or piece of land situated and being in Parish, County aforesaid and Province of New Brunswick viz: a lot containing one hundred acres more or less with all buildings, improvements, privileges and ________ thereto belonging, bounded and distinguished as follows known as lot number thirteen in the third tier of southeast Harvey granted from the Crown to George Embleton to have and to hold the above released premises to the said Elisha Embleton his heirs and assigns for his and their use forever, providing and on the express condition that the said Elisha Embleton shall board and lodge and maintain in a comfortable manner his and our father and mother George and Elizabeth Embleton and if at any time he the said Elisha Embleton or his heirs or assigns should fail to do so, or pay the sum of seventy-eight dollars a year during their life time, then this quit claim deed to be void and of no effect.

    In witness whereof we the said George Embleton and Ann his wife, Thomas A. Embleton and Margaret his wife, Michael Embleton and Mary E., his wife, Joseph T. Embleton and Isabella his wife, David Embleton, Robert Cleland and Jane T. his wife, George Coffey and Margaret I. D. his wife, William Embleton and Elizabeth his wife, and Robert Embleton and Elizabeth his wife in token of our release of all right of dower in the granted premises to the said Elisha Embleton but only on the condition above mentioned of maintaining our father and mother have herewith set our hand and seals these dates as set opposite our names in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty.

    Signed, sealed and delivered in presence of John Rutherford.   (And signed by all the names listed above.   Note:   The signature of William's wife looks like "Hannah E.", whereas she is listed above as Elizabeth.   And in marriage records William married Margaret Mott in Dec 1865--Elizabeth or Hannah E. may be a second wife??   /jh)

    He married Elizabeth Twizell, in England. Born 1819 in Eng. Died 30 Nov 1890 in Harvey. Buried in Harvey Settlement Cemetery.

10. Elizabeth Embleton . Daughter of George Embleton & Margaret Davidson. Born 1819 in Eng. Christen 1 Jun 1819 in Ilderton, Eng. Died 3 Oct 1852 in Harvey. Buried in Harvey Settlement Cemetery.

    Elizabeth came to NB in 1837 on the brig Cornelius of Sunderland,   with her sister and brother-in-law Isabell and Thomas Herbert and their five young children.   Elizabeth was 18 years old.   Her sister, Eleanor, age 20 years, and brother Robert, age 16 years, and brother William Embleton with his wife Jane and two small children came to NB at the same time.   They were among the first settlers of Harvey Settlement.  

    From N.B. Royal Gazette, 10 Feb 1841:   "Married 4th inst., by Rev. Dr. Birkmyre, George Nesbit and Miss Elizabeth Embleton both of Kingsclear parish, York Co."

    From York Co NB Marriage Register B 1837-1850 (PANB):   Witnesses to marriage were Robert Embleton and Margaret Herbert.

    From New Brunswick Courier, 30 Oct 1852:   "Died Harvey Settlement, 3rd ult., Elizabeth, wife of George Nisbet, age 33; and on 13th, William, son of George Nisbet, infant."

    She married George Nesbitt, son of James Nesbitt & Elspeth, 4 Feb 1841 in St. Paul's Church, Fredericton By John Birkmyre, Presbyteria. Born 16 Feb 1816 in North., Eng. Died 1881/1891. Occupation Farmer.

    George at age 21 years came to NB on the brig "Cornelius of Sunderland" in 1837 with his widowed father James Nesbitt, sister Elspeth and brother James, and were among the first settlers of Harvey Settlement.

    George was listed in the 1881 Census, but not the 1891 Census, and it is presumed he died during that time.
