42. Mary Isabel Lister . Daughter of James M. Lister & Eleanor "Ellen" Piercy. Born 13 Oct 1867 in Harvey. Died 29 Dec 1930 in Harvey. Buried in Harvey Settlement Cemetery.

   Mrs George Little

   Harvey Station, York Co., Dec 31 -- A wide circle of friends were shocked to learn of the death of Mrs George Little, which occurred Monday night at her home at York Mills.   Mrs Little was 63 years of age and was the third daughter of the late Mr and Mrs James Lister, of York Mills, and had lived all her life in that community.   Her kindly disposition made her a general favorite in her neighbourhood.

   Those left to mourn are her husband, one daughter, Mrs Allen Briggs, and four sisters, Mrs Albert Little and Mrs M. A. Little of Coburn, and Mrs Alex Skene and Mrs James Piercy of McAdam; and two brothers, David Lister, of McAdam, and Ward Lister of Vancouver.

   The funeral was held today from the home of her daughter, Mrs Allen Briggs.   The service was conducted by Rev. J. H. McLean, assisted by Rev. George Knight.   The hymns sung were, "Nearer My God To Thee", "I Want To Go There, Don't You", and "Does Jesus Care", by Mr Knight as a solo.   The pallbearers were six nephews, Howard, Clarence, Kenneth and Arnold Little, David Embleton and James Nesbitt.   The floral tributes were many and beautiful.   Interment was in Harvey Cemetery.

    She married George Marshall Little, son of James Little & Isabella "Belle" Herbert, 29 Aug 1888. Born 13 Feb 1864 in Harvey. Died 15 May 1950 in Harvey. Buried in Harvey Settlement Cemetery.

    George and Mary lived at Upper York Mills.

    They had the following children:

43. Eleanor "Ellen" Lister . Daughter of James M. Lister & Eleanor "Ellen" Piercy. Born 12 Oct 1870 in Harvey. Died 3 May 1966 in Victoria Public Hospital, Fredericton. Buried in Rockland Cemetery, McAdam. Religion United Church.

    Death of Mrs E. Skene

   McAdam -- Residents here were shocked at the death of one of the community's oldest and most prominent residents, Mrs Ellen Skene, who died at the Victoria Public Hospital in Fredericton at the age of 95.

    The widow of the late Alexander Skene, she was a native of York Mills.   One of 11 children of the late James and Eleanor Piercy Lister, she was married in 1898.

   Together with her husband she moved to Somersworth, New Hampshire, and two years later moved to McAdam.   Mr Skene owned and operated a general store here until his retirement in 1928.

    A remarkably active person despite her advanced years, Mrs Skene was a member of St. Paul's United Church here, where she taught Sunday School for many years.   She held honorary membership in the United Church Women and was also honorary Regent of the Wauklahagen Chapter, IODE, and was a life member of the local branch of the Canadian Red Cross Society.

    Surviving are her son and daughter, Allison and Helen, of McAdam, with whom she lived, a brother Ward Lister of Vancouver, and several nieces and nephews.   A son Emerson died in 1961.

    The body is resting at the home on Saunders Road until 2 p.m. tomorrow when prayers will be held for the family followed by funeral service in St. Paul's United Church at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. J. Murdoch Fraser officiating.   Interment will be in the Rockland Cemetery.

    She married Alexander Skene, son of James Skene & Helen Wyness, 17 Aug 1898 in York Co., NB. Born 20 Jan 1873 in York Mills. Christen in Harvey Presbyterian Church. Died 14 Feb 1938 in McAdam. Buried in Rockland Cemetery, McAdam. Occupation General Store And Undertaking Business. Religion United Church.

    Alex Skene, 65, McAdam, Former York Warden, Dies.

    Retired Merchant, Undertaker, Long Active in United Church Work.

    McAdam, N.B., Feb 16 -- (Special) -- Alexander Skene, 65, died at his home in McAdam Monday night and in his passing McAdam and York County lost one of their most esteemed residents.   He had contributed largely to community and county affairs.

    Mr Skene was born at York Mills, a son of the late James and Helen Wyness Skene, and was educated at the public schools at Pennfield and St. George.   He came to McAdam when a young man and for more than 30 years conducted a general store and undertaking business here, retiring 10 years ago.

    He was a member of S. Paul's United Church and active in church work, having been elder of the church since union and superintendent of the Sunday School for more than 20 years.   In 1932 he was delegate to the general council of the United Church at Hamilton, Ont.   He was a past master of the Loyal Orange Lodge.

    For eight years Mr Skene was a member of the York County Council and for a year in 1912 was warden.   He was particularly interested in the McAdam schools and always eager to help any educational movement.

    Mr Skene had been ill for some time and confined to the house during the last few months of his illness.

    He is survived by his wife, formerly Miss Ellen Lister of York Mills; two sons, J. Allison of the St. Croix customs staff, and Emerson A., principal of the Model School at Fredericton, and one daughter, Helen E., at home, who is home economics teacher in the McAdam High School.

    The funeral was held from his residence today at 2:30 p.m. with a service conducted by Rev. J. F. MacKay, of St. Paul's United Church, McAdam, assisted by Rev. Alexander MacKay, Harvey.   A quartet composed of William Dawson, B. Jordan, Glenn Barr and F. H. Estabrooks rendered favorite hymns of Mr Skene's.   Pallbearers were David Lister, James Piercy, Lorne Coffey, F. T. Lister, George Craig and Fred Embleton.   Interment was made in Rockland Cemetery.

    They had the following children:
