20. Eleanor Cowe. Daughter of James Cowe & Isabelle Donaldson. Born 23 Apr 1830 in Broadmeadows. Christen 6 Jun 1830 in Hutton, Berwickshire. Died 28 Nov 1853 in Harvey. Buried in Harvey Settlement Cemetery.

"Cowe/ Helen, Daughter of James Cowe Hind at Broadmeadows and Isabel Donaldson his Wife, was born 23d of April 1830 and baptized June 6th following in Hutton Manse. Witnesses of Baptism Thomas Ingram Schoolmaster and Thomas Hay Serv't." (From The Church of Scotland register 745/4 of Hutton, Berwickshire, researched by Bruce Elliott, Aug 2007.) This daughter is known as Eleanor.

From Weekly Chronicle, Saint John, 30 Jul 1852: "Married 27th inst., by Rev. J. M. Brooke, James McWigan (sic) Fredericton parish and Miss Eleanor Cowe, Harvey Settlement."

Eleanor and her sister Mary were married on the same day. Eleanor died at age 23 years of Scarlet Fever, the same day as her youngest brother, James, age 2 years, also of Scarlet Fever.
Broken gravestone in Harvey Settlement Cemetery: In memory of Eleanor wife of James McGuiggan who died Nov 28, 1853 aged 23 years. Also James died July 26, 1849 (?) aged 3 years; James ( ......1853?) aged 2 years, sons of James and Isabella Cowe.

She married James McGuiggan, 27 Jul 1852 in St. Paul's Church Records, Fredericton .
In York Co NB Marriage Register C 1850-1866 (PANB), Names spelled "McWigan". Witnesses to marriage were George Phillips and Mahala A. Jones.
