43. Margaret Ann "Annie" Grieve . Daughter of Henry "Harry" Grieve & Margaret Speedy. Born 9 Apr 1881 in Sandwick, BC. Died 8 Oct 1950 in Campbell River, BC. Buried 11 Oct 1950 in Courtenay Civic Cemetery, Section B.

    Perform Rites At Courtenay

    Courtenay, Oct 11 -- Funeral services for the late Mrs Margaret Annie Parkin were conducted by Rev. J. S. Clark in Piercy's Funeral Chapel, followed by interment at Sandwick United Cemetery.   Canadian Daughters' League rites were also observed.   Mrs Parkin died suddenly at Campbell River last Saturday.

    She was a member of the pioneer Grieve family of Sandwick, where she was born 69 years ago.   She and her husband, Isaac Parkin, were married in the United Church there on April 6, 1898, and they observed their golden wedding anniversary two years ago.

    For many years Mr and Mrs Parkin made their home at Headquarters where, despite the fact she was the busy mother of nine children, Mrs Parkin was always ready to help others and take part in any community effort.   She was an active member of the Canadian Daughters' League, Courtenay.

    In addition to her widower, she is survived by three daughters, Mrs J. McLoughlin, Courtenay; Mrs Jules Herbin, Union Bay, and Isabelle, Victoria; five sons, Norman and Roy, Courtenay; Alvin and Walter, Campbell River, and Joseph, Victoria; one sister, Mrs Samuel Piercy; and one brother, Kenneth Grieve; also 16 grandchildren.

    She married Isaac "Ike" Parkin, son of William Parkin & Eliza Malpass, 6 Apr 1898 in Sandwick, BC. Born 26 May 1875 in Nanaimo, BC. Died 30 Aug 1960 in Courtenay, BC. Buried 2 Sep 1960 in Courtenay Civic Cemetery, Section B. Occupation Carpenter.

    Ike was the son of William Parkin and Eliza Malpass.

    Ike and Annie resided in Courtenay.   He worked for many years as a carpenter for Nanaimo Mines and later for the Comox Logging Company at Headquarters

    After Annie died, Ike married Ruth Thames and they lived in Courtenay.

    They had the following children:
