101. William "Stephen" Russell Swan . Son of Alexander "Sandy" Swan & Annie Burrell. Born 12 Dec 1894 in Tweedside. Died 9 Jun 1987 in Harvey Community Hospital. Buried in Harvey Settlement Cemetery. Occupation Farmer.

    Stephen R. Swan

    Funeral service for Stephen R. Swan of Tweedside, 92, was held at the Knox Presbyterian Church in Harvey Station.   Rev. David Dewar officiated.

 

    Pallbearers were grandsons Larry Swan, Robert Swan, Darren Johnston and neighbors Wetzel Swan, Winston Rutherford and Gordon Piercy.

 

    Mr Swan is survived by his wife Inez (Bell); two sons, Russel of McAdam, LeRoy of Tweedside and five daughters, Mrs Vern Dragland (Annie) of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Mrs George Corey (Charlotte) of Port Hope, Ontario, Mrs Del Johnston (Beryl), Mrs Harold Swan (Aldana), Mrs Gerry Piercy (Betty) all of Harvey, also grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

 

    Interment was in the Harvey Community Cemetery.

    He married Inez Pearl Bell, daughter of Charles Alexander Bell & Margaret "Belle" Messer. Born 6 Mar 1913 in Lake Road, Harvey Station. Died 11 Dec 2003 in Oromocto Public Hospital, Oromocto. Buried in Harvey Settlement Cemetery.

    SWAN, INEZ PEARL

     Inez P. Swan of Tweedside, widow of Stephen Swan passed away December 11, 2003 at the Oromocto Public Hospital at the age of 90. Born at Lake Road, Harvey Station, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Margaret (Messer) Bell. She was a member of the Knox Presbyterian Church.

 

     Inez is survived by five daughters, Ann Swan, Calgary, AB, Beryl Johnston, Harvey Station, Charlotte Corey (George), Port Hope, ON, Aldana Swan (Harold), Harvey Station, Betty Piercy (Gerry), Harvey Station; two sons, Russell Swan (Barbara), McAdam and LeRoy Swan (Shirley), Tweedside; three sisters, Mildred Wilson, Harvey Station, Mabel Buchanan, Kentville, NS and Joyce Sloan, Lake George; one brother, Myles Bell (Pauline), Vernon, BC; twenty four grandchildren; twenty six great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

 

    She was predeceased by her husband, a sister, Jean Vance, a brother, Norman Bell and a son-in-law, Dell Johnston. Resting at Swan Funeral Home, 1826 Highway 3, Harvey Station with visiting hours Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church, Harvey Station on Sunday, December 14, 2003 at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Bonnie Wynn officiating. Interment will be later at Harvey Settlement Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons and special neighbor, Clayton Piercy.

 

    For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Inez, the family has suggested the Alzheimer Society or a charity of the donor's choice.

102. Clarence Kelley Swan . Son of Alexander "Sandy" Swan & Annie Burrell. Born 4 May 1898 in Tweedside. Died 4 Mar 1971. Buried in Rockland Cemetery, McAdam.

    He married Dora Bertina Piercy, daughter of Walter Piercy & Tressa Bertina Coburn. Born 7 Nov 1900 in Harvey. Died 20 Oct 1988 in MacLean Memorial Hospital, McAdam. Buried in Rockland Cemetery, McAdam.


    From The Telegraph Journal, 21 Oct 1988:

    SWAN -- At the McAdam Memorial Hospital on October 20, 1988, Dora B. Swan, survived by one son, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

    Resting at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 20 Marks Street, St. Stephen until Saturday, from where the body will be taken to the Fernhill Cemetery for cremation.   A memorial service will be held on Sunday at the United Church, McAdam, at 2:30 pm.   In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society.


103. Elizabeth "Alice" Swan . Daughter of Alexander "Sandy" Swan & Annie Burrell. Born 16 Jan 1900 in Tweedside. Died 16 Apr 1987 in Brownville Jct., Me.

    She married Matthew Piercy Coburn, son of John G. Coburn & Margaret Ann Nesbitt. Born 3 Mar 1889 in Harvey. Died 2 Feb 1965 in Maine.
