2. Eleanor "Ellen" Wightman. Daughter of John Wightman & Mary Davison. Born 18 Sept. 1824 in Wooler, Eng. Christen 29 Oct 1824 in Wooler, Eng. Died 30 Mar 1889 in Harvey. Buried in Harvey Settlement Cemetery. Religion Presbyterian.

 

From Cheviot St. United Presbyterian Church register:

 

p. 66 WIGHTMAN. 27 October 1824. Ellenor daughter of John & Mary Wightman of North Ewart, Doddington parish. Born 18 sept. 1824.

 

    Ellen came to NB in 1837 with her parents and siblings, and were among the pioneer settlers of Harvey Settlement.

 

    She married Robert Piercy, son of George Piercy & Ann Winter, 15 Jan 1849 in St. Anne's Chapel, Fredericton By Charles P. Bliss. Born Approx 1820 in Northumberland, Eng. Died 31 Aug 1869 in Harvey. Buried in Harvey Settlement Cemetery. Occupation Farmer. Religion Presbyterian.

 

    Marriages - St. Anne's Chapel, Fredericton:   "15 Jan 1849, Robert Piercy and Ellenor Wightman, Harvey Settlement, banns by C. F. Bliss.   Witnesses:   Thomas Piercy and Elizabeth Montgomery."

 

    Robert received Land Grant Lot R, Block 31, 100 acres, 1853/11/23.  

 

    From   Daily Telegraph, 13 Sept 1869:   "Robert Piercy was killed at Hatch's stable Tuesday of last week of a kick from a horse.   He received threekicks in the abdomen.--St. Croix Courier."

 

    From New Brunswick Reporter, 10 Sept 1869:   "Died Harvey Settlement (York Co.) 31 Aug., Robert Piercy, age 43, native of Northumberland, England."

 

    Inscription on broken gravestone in Harvey Settlement Cemetery:   Robert Piercy died Aug 31, 1869 Aged 49 years.   Native of Northumberland, England.

Based on a mtDNA test result of direct maternal descendat Ellis Craig the haplogroup designation and HVR1 mutations of Mary Davison are provided below.
Since mtDNA is passed directly from mothers to their children with virtually no changes the test values obtained are generally applicable to all direct maternal descendants including daughter Eleanor "Ellen" Wightman.
