21. James Brownrigg . Son of Edward Brownrigg & Isabelle "Belle" Wightman. Born Approx 1860 in Harvey (Acton). Died Before 1901.

    Copied from a newspaper clipping - "Files of the Gleaner of 1887":

    "The "Grub Road" put on its smoothest surface and nature her blandest smiles last week when James Brownrigg of Acton, was united in holy bonds of matrimony with Mrs George.   This is the first contract of this kind consummated in this rural neighbourhood."

    From Harvey Presbyterian Church records, witnesses to marriage were Arthur Morecraft and Ellen Hoskin.

    He married Mrs Jane George, 16 Jun 1887 in Harvey Presbyterian Church, York Co. By J. A. McLean ,. Born 15 Sep 1852 in England .

    From Jane's first marriage she had the following children:     Henry George, b. 10 Nov 1873 *,   Minnie George, b. approx 1876,   Martin George, b. 6 Jun 1878 *,   Annie George, b. 14 Aug 1882 *,   Nellie George, b. 1 Jun 1885 *   ( * - Birth dates from 1901 Census.)    (Martin George died in 1950 in Millinocket, ME.   His first wife died 1 Nov 1901, age 20 yr.   He married secondly Bertina Davis, d/o Thomas Davis and Margaret Dorcas.)

   James and Jane   had the following children:

  59   ii.   Samuel Brownrigg

Based on a mtDNA test result of direct maternal descendat Ellis Craig the haplogroup designation and HVR1 mutations of Mary Davison are provided below.
Since mtDNA is passed directly from mothers to their children with virtually no changes the test values obtained are generally applicable to all direct maternal descendants including grandson James Brownrigg.
