131. William "Irving" Young. Son of Hugh Young & Margaret Jane Little. Born Oct 1882 in Brockway. Died 12 Feb 1923 in Brockway. Buried in Brockway Cemetery.

 

    From newspaper obituary (1923):

    WILLIAM IRVING YOUNG

    William Irving Young passed peacefully away at the home of his parents in Brockway on February 12 after an illness of eight months with consumption.

    Deceased, who was forty years of age last October, was an only son of Mr and Mrs Hugh Young, was born at Brockway and was loved and respected by all who knew him.

    About twelve years ago he attended the U.N.B. at Fredericton and studied for a civil engineer.  After finishing his course, he went to Quebec where he spent a year or more at this work.  For some time he was employed on the Valley Railroad and at the time he became ill was employed with Foss & Phillips in St. John.

    In 1916 Mr Young was united in marriage with Miss Nerene Kilburn, second daughter of Mr and Mrs Hedley Kilburn of Kingsclear, by Rev A. D. McLeod, Methodist pastor, then of Kingsclear.  Three children were born to them, the second child, a boy, dying in infancy.  He leaves to mourn their great and irreparable loss, one daughter, Katrine, aged 5 years, and one son, Kilburn, aged two years, his parents, Mr and Mrs Hugh Young, and an only sister, Miss Jennie Young at home, all of whom have the sincere sympathy of a host of friends in their sorrow.

    Rev A. D. McLeod, now of Oak Bay, delivered a touching sermon.  There were many beautiful floral offerings from friends and family.  The pallbearers were Bruce and Irving Little and Ernest Vail of Brockway, Edward Young of McAdam and Messrs. Rigby and Owen of St. John, civil engineers and friends of Mr Young.

    The remains were laid to rest in the Brockway cemetery.

 

    He married Nerene Kilburn, 1916 in Kingsclear, NB. Born 1896. Died 1963. Buried in Brockway Union Cemetery.

    Nerene was the daughter of Hedley Kilburn and Pamelia Cliff.  After the death of Irving, Nerene married John McLean,  and they had one Carolyn Anne McLean, b. 16 Dec 1936.

 

    They had the following children:

394 iii. John "Kilburn" Young
