307. Zella May Wilson. Daughter of Thomas Wilson & Eleanor Turnbull Grieve (link to Wilson family pages). Born 27 Feb 1901 in Harvey, N B. Died 22 Oct 1971 in Harvey Community Hospital. Buried in Harvey Settlement Cemetery. Occupation Housewife. Religion Presbyterian.
Before her marriage, Zella worked as a seamstress and dressmaker. She also worked in Portland, ME for a short period of time.

Married Yesterday Afternoon
Wilmot church was the scene of a very pretty wedding Wednesday afternoon when Miss Zella May Wilson, daughter of Mr and Mrs Thomas Wilson, of Harvey Station, became the bride of Clarence David Swan, also of Harvey. The ceremony was performed by Rev. F. H. Holmes, M.A., pastor of Wilmot church, in the presence of a large number of friends and relatives. The bride looked very charming in a dress of periwinkle blue flat crepe with blonde trimmings and wore a picture hat, with gloves and shoes to match. She carried a beautiful corsage bouquet of sweet peas and maidenhair fern. The groom's gift to the bride was a pearl necklace. The happy couple left by auto for an extended trip through Nova Scotia. On their return they will reside at Harvey Station.
SWAN - WILSON -- At the Wilmot United church, Fredericton, NB, on June 29, 1927, Zella May, daughter of Mrs Eleanor and the late Thomas Wilson, of Harvey, was united in marriage to Clarence David Swan, son of Mr and Mrs Matthew Swan, also of Harvey. Rev. Mr Holmes officiating.

Harvey Station -- Funeral services were held for the Mrs Clarence D. Swan, 70, at her residence in Harvey Station, Rev. S. R. Jackson, of Knox Presbyterian Church, officiated. Interment was in the Harvey Community Cemetery, Harvey Station.
Pallbearers were nephews, Charles Kimball, Springfield, Mass.; George Wood and Eugene Moffitt, Harvey Station; Arleigh Wilson, Herb Wilson and Harry Annis, McAdam.
Mrs Swan was the former Zella May Wilson, daughter of the late Thomas and Eleanor (Grieve) Wilson of Harvey Station and resided all her life in that community.
She is survived by her husband, Clarence D. Swan, Harvey Station; two sons, Dr. Matthew H. Swan, Campbellton; Dr. C. Burke Swan, Allentown, Pa.; two daughters, Mrs M. F. Bartlett (Eleanor) Montvale, NJ; Mrs K. E. Hall (Jocelean), Saint John; a brother, Willard Wilson, Harvey Station; five sisters, Mrs Sandy Wood (Jenny), Harvey Station, Miss Mabel Wilson, Portland, Maine; Mrs Judson Gregg (Dora), Toronto; ;Mrs Gordon Dykeman (Gladys), Jemseg; Mrs Herbert Kimball (Helen), Springfield, Mass.; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She married Clarence David Swan, son of Matthew Swan (link to Swan family pages) & Mary Alberta "Bertie" Mowatt (link to Mowatt family pages), 29 Jun 1927 in Wilmot United Church, Fredericton. Born 17 Jul 1896 in Harvey, York Co., NB . Died 28 Oct 1987 in Wauklehegan Manor, McAdam. Buried in Harvey Settlement Cemetery. Occupation Farmer/Carman CPR. Religion Presbyterian.
Clarence and Zella farmed on the Tweedside Road until 1969 when they sold the farm and built a home near the village of Harvey. Besides having a dairy farm, Clarence worked as a carman for the CPR in McAdam until his retirement in 1961.

Clarence D. Swan
The funeral of Clarence David Swan was held from Swan Funeral Home, Harvey Station, Rev. D. A. Dewar of Knox Presbyterian Church officiated.
Mr Swan, born on July 17, 1896, was the son of the late Matthew and Alberta (Mowatt) Swan, Harvey Station. A veteran of the First World War, he resided most of his life in Harvey Station where he was a successful farmer. He was employed as a carman for the CPR, McAdam for some twenty years, from which he retired in 1961.
In later years he resided with his daughter and son-in-law, Jocelean and Ken Hall, Harvey Station, until May of this year when he became a resident of the Wauklehegan Manor, McAdam.
His wife, Zella (Wilson) Swan predeceased him in October 1971. He was also predeceased by five brothers and one sister.
He is survived by two sons, Dr. Matthew H. Swan, Campbellton, and Dr. C. Burke Swan, Allentown, Pa.; two daughters, Eleanor Bartlett, Fredericton, and Jocelean Hall, Harvey Station; eleven grandchildren, Dr Sheryl Bartlett, Cynthia Bartlett, Jane Swan and Camilla Swan, Toronto; David Swan, Greenwood, NS, Ann Swan-Boudreau, Belledune; Kathi Sheriko, Wolfville, NS; Cyndi Hall, Halifax; Leslie Swan, Philadelphia; David Bartlett and Michael Swan, Fredericton; three great grandchildren, Jordan and Jeffrey Sheriko, Wolfville and Sandra Bartlett-Laver, Toronto; three sisters, Rae Brewer, Toronto; Rhoda Clibbon, Stuart, Florida, and Palma Swan, Flushing, NY and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were grandchildren, Sheryl Bartlett, David Swan, Michael Swan, David Bartlett, Ann Swan-Bourdreu and Ernest Boudreau.
Interment was in the Harvey Community Cemetery.
