303. Ellen "Selena" Wilson. Daughter of Thomas Wilson & Eleanor Turnbull Grieve (link to Wilson family pages). Born 10 May 1893 in Harvey Sta. Died 9 Dec 1966 in Saint John General Hospital, Saint John. Buried in Rockland Cemetery, McAdam. Occupation Teacher. Religion United Baptist.

    Selena graduated from Normal School in Fredericton and taught school before her marriage.

 

    From newspaper obituary (d. 9 Dec 1966):

    Mrs Amos Moffitt

    McAdam -- The funeral service for Mrs E. Selena Moffitt, widow of Amos Moffitt, McAdam, was held from the home of her daughter, Mrs Harry Annis, McAdam, with the Rev. J. Fred Cowan of the Rockland Drive United Baptist Church officiating, assisted by Rev. J. Murdock Fraser of St. Paul's church.  Mrs Emil Olsen Sr. was soloist.

    Pallbearers were the six nephews, Ernest Moffitt, Vincent Moffitt, James Moffitt, Herbert Wilson, Arleigh Wilson and Richard Dykeman.  Interment was in the Rockland Cemetery, McAdam.

    Mrs Moffitt died in the Saint John General Hospital following a lingering illness.  She was in her 73rd year.  Born at Harvey Station, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Ellen (Grieve) Wilson.

    Surviving are two sons, Dr. Emerson Moffitt of Rochester, Minn. and Eugene Moffitt of McAdam; one daughter, Mrs Harry Annis, McAdam; nine grandchildren; six sisters, Mrs Sandy Wood and Mrs Clarence Swan, Harvey Station; Mrs Gordon Dykeman, Lower Jemseg; Mrs Judson Gregg, Toronto; Miss Mabel Wilson, Portland, Me.; Mrs Herbert Kimball, Springfield, Mass.; one brother, Willard Wilson, McAdam.

 

    She married Amos Alexander Moffitt (link to Moffitt family pages), son of Robert "Bob" Moffitt (link to Moffitt family pages) & Mary Isabella "Bella" Hay (link to Hay family pages), 16 Jun 1920 in Harvey Sta. Born 3 Aug 1896 in Little Settlement, York Co, NB. Died 5 Mar 1952 in McAdam. Buried in Rockland Cemetery, McAdam. Occupation CPR McAdam.

    In 1912, Amos walked to McAdam from Harvey and began working for the CPR by telling them he was a year older than he was.  He worked as a carman until his final illness.

    Amos and Selena lived in  McAdam, York Co, NB., and had three children:  Ruby, Emerson and Eugene.

 

    They had the following children:
