171. Annie Elizabeth Smith. Daughter of William Walter Embleton Smith (link to Embleton family pages) & Jane "Janie" Little. Born 20 Jun 1881 in Harvey. Died 13 Jun 1934 in Westbrook, Maine. Buried in Harvey Settlement Cemetery.

 

Probable wedding day photograph (30 Jun 1909) of Annie Elizabeth Smith (front and center; b. 20 Jun 1881, d. 13 Jun 1934 of pneumonia at her home in Westbrook, Maine). Married Rev. Roderick Augustus MacDonald. Had two children. (Source: Judy Davis, 31 Mar 2007). Other subjects in photograph are unknown. However, as this is a wedding party photograph it probably includes some of her siblings and the older lady in the dark dress is probably her mother Jane (Janie) Little.     From newspaper obituary - 1934:

    Mrs R. A. MacDonald

    St. Stephen, June 21 -- Friends on the border were shocked to hear of the death of Mrs Roderick A. MacDonald who died of pneumonia at her home at Westbrook, Me.  She was born in Harvey, York County, NB, fifty-two years ago, the daughter of Mr and Mrs William E. Smith (Jane Little).  She graduated from the Normal School at Fredericton and taught for several years in the vicinity.  Following her marriage to Rev. R. A. MacDonald she came with him to Calais where he was pastor of the Congregational Church in that city.  The thirtieth day of the present month would have marked the twenty-fifth anniversary of their marriage.  They moved to Westbrook twelve years ago where Mrs MacDonald has been as beloved and active as when in Calais.  She is survived by her husband, a daughter, Mrs Arthur Richardson and a son, Roderick of Westbrook and a granddaughter, her mother, Mrs William E. Smith and two brothers, Norman Smith of Harvey and Lewis Smith of Calgary, Alberta.

    The funeral was held in the Warren Street Congregational Church, Westbrook and was largely attended.  The floral tributes were very fine, one huge spread of roses being from the Women's League.  The member of the Ministerial Association attended in body.

 

    She married Roderick Augustus MacDonald Rev., 30 Jun 1909 in Harvey, York Co., NB.

    They had the following children:
