Ellen and her husband Richard Thomas lived with his parents at Thomaston Corner for a few years after their marriage before moving to St. Stephen. They had a family of ten children.

She married Richard Thomas, son of Alfred Thomas & Margaret Dundass, 24 Feb 1886 in St. Stephen, NB. Born 27 Sep 1860 in Thomaston Corner, NB. Died 15 Jan 1925 in St Stephen. Buried in St. Stephen Rural Cemetery, St. Stephen, NB.

Richard Thomas's father and mother moved to Brockway, and Richard got the deed to the land in Thomaston Corner in 1896--the farm on the corner of Routes 3 and 4 which later became home to the Gillespies. Thomaston Corner was named after the Thomas family, and there was also a post office run by the Thomas family. On 11 Mar 1907, Richard and Ellen bought a farm in Old Ridge, Charlotte County, from Thomas R. Speedy and his wife. (Granddaughter Joyce McGlinchey has the deeds for these two land transactions--1992)

Some important changes of real estate have taken place during the past few days. Thomas R. Speedy has sold his interest on the old "Toal" farm just outside the town limits on Old Ridge to Richard Thomas of Harvey, a brother of Joseph Thomas who owns the other half of the farm. Mr Thomas has moved his family here and is conducting the milk business established by Mr Speedy.
