218. Elizabeth "Lizzie" Little. Daughter of John "Albert" Little & Jane Agnes Lister (link to Lister pages). Born 4 Apr 1887 in Harvey. Died 10 Feb 1965 in Harvey Community Hospital. Buried in Harvey Settlement Cemetery.

 

    From newspaper obituary (1965):

    FUNERAL IS HELD FOR PROMINENT HARVEY WOMAN

    Harvey -- The funeral of Mrs Elizabeth Coffey, wife of J. Lorne Coffey, formerly of McAdam, was held in the St. James United Church, Harvey Station with Rev. W. L. Randall officiating.  Pallbearers were Roy Little, Roderick Little, Ronald Little, Clayton Little, Leslie Little and Claude Little.  Interment was in the Harvey Cemetery.

    The death of Mrs Coffey occurred at the Harvey Community Hospital after a lengthy illness.  She was born in Harvey Station in 1887, a daughter of the late Albert and Jane Agnes Little, and resided in the Harvey and McAdam area all her life.  Mrs Coffey was a highly respected and beloved citizen on the Harvey community. She was a member of the United Church of Canada and a life member of the UCW.  Among her interests were the Red Cross and the Canadian Bible Society.

    She is survived by her husband; one son, Dr. J. Edwin Coffey, Montreal; two daughters, Mrs G. Forbes Elliott, Saint John and Mrs Robert Huestis, Dartmouth, NS, a step-daughter, Mrs Travis S. Dougan, Sussex and 10 grandchildren.

    A brother, Howard M. Little, York Mills, also survives.

 

    She married James "Lorne" Coffey, son of Richard Coffey & Elizabeth Ann Dorcas, 24 Aug 1921. Born 14 Jun 1882 in Acton. Died 18 Jan 1968.

    Lorne was married first to Susanna Gloriana "Susie" Briggs, d/o Alex Briggs and Margaret Jane Nesbitt, and had one daughter, Margaret, who married Travis Dougan.

    Lorne married secondly Elizabeth "Lizzie" Little, and they had three children:  Marion, Lorna and Edwin.

    Lizzie and Lorne lived in Harvey, then moved to McAdam, and eventually returned to Harvey and built a house in Harvey.

    They had the following children:
