260. William John Craig. Son of John Thompson Craig (link to Thompson family pages) & Janet "Jennie" McGowan. Born 17 Jun 1906 in Harvey. Died 1 Jul 1983 in DECH, Fredericton. Buried in Harvey Settlement Cemetery. Occupation Dairy Manager.

    Willie to some and Bill to others, lived all his life on the Craig homestead where he was born.  He was associated with the dairy business.  He worked in the woods in Stanley with brother Kay in 1927.  No children.

    WILLIAM J. CRAIG

    The funeral service of William J. Craig, 77, of Harvey Station, was held at St. Andrews United Church.  A masonic service was held earlier at Swans Funeral Home.

    He was the son of the late John and Janet Craig of Harvey and was predeceased by his wife Jean (Scott) Craig five years ago.

    He is survived by his only brother, Thomas Kay Craig, of Harvey, and five nephews and two nieces.

    He was predeceased by his sister, Lila Craig Manzer.

    He was widely known as the manager of N. B. Dairies when it operated a creamery in Harvey.  Later he was manager of the Harvey operation of the Capital Co-Op Creamery.

    Interment was in the Harvey Community Cemetery.

 

    He first married Carrie Alice Elizabeth Swan, daughter of James Robert "Jimmie" Swan & Mary Winnifred "Mame" Swan, 27 May 1936 in Knox Presby. Church Records. Born 26 Aug 1913 in Tweedside, NB. Died 12 Mar 1998 in DECH, Fredericton. Buried in Harvey Settlement Cemetery. They were divorced. Religion Presbyterian.

    MOFFITT, Carrie Alice Elizabeth

    Carrie A. E. Moffitt of Tweedside, widow of Austin Moffitt, died Thursday, March 12, 1998 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital.  She was 84.  Born at Tweedside, she was a daughter of the late James R. and Mary (Swan) Swan.  She was a housewife and also was employed at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital as a seamstress for several years, retiring in 1978.  She also worked for a number of years at Swanhaven in Harvey Station.  She was a member of the L.O.B.A., the Knox Presbyterian Church and the Manners Sutton Sewing Circle.

    Carrie is survived by a son Allison Moffitt and his wife Marta, Tweedside, a daughter Mary Ann Fenety and husband Mike, New Maryland, a special nephew Dwight Moffitt and his wife Grace, Fredericton, a sister Christene Moffitt, McAdam, three grandchildren, Keith Moffitt and his wife Nicole, Harvey Station, Sabrina Moffitt and friend Eric Noble, Whittaker Road and Rebecca Moffitt and friend Loren Allen, Nevers Road, two great grandchildren, Abigayle and Samual and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband Austin W. Moffitt, March 16, 1996 and two brothers Earl and Lewis Swan.

    Resting at Swan Funeral Home, 1826 Highway 3, Harvey Station with visiting hours Friday 7-9 pm.  Funeral service will be held at the Knox Presbyterian Church, Harvey Station on Saturday March 14, 1998 at 2 pm.  Rev. David Dewar officiating, assisted by Rev. Dr. William Randall.  Interment will be later at Harvey Settlement Cemetery.  A tribute service will be held by members of the L.O.B.A. Friday evening at 6:45.  Pallbearers will be Neil McCullough, Cedric Vail, Ernest Swan, Jerry Moffitt, Jack Moffitt and Henry James.  For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Carrie, the family has suggested the Harvey Outreach for Seniors or Knox Presbyterian Church.

 

    He second married Jean Craik Scott, 8 Oct 1953. Born 4 May 1912 in Nairn, Scotland. Died 19 Aug 1978 in DECH, Fredericton. Buried in Harvey Settlement Cemetery.

    Died 19 Aug 1978, age 66 yr., at DECHospital, Fredericton.  Born Nairn, Scotland, father - Alexander Walter Scott, Stonehouse, Scotland; mother - Jessie Forbes Cameron, Croy, Scotland.
