191. David "Norman" Little. Son of Ebenezer "Eben" Little & Mary Agnes Lister (link to Lister family pages). Born 6 Jul 1888 in Harvey. Died 4 Feb 1982 in Dawson Creek Hospital. Buried in Rolla Cemetery. Occupation Farmer.

    Norman moved to Vancouver in 1911, and then to the Peace River country and homesteaded in Rolla in 1914, where he farmed for many years.  They moved back to New Brunswick for three years, and later returned to the Peace River district.  In 1948 they moved to Dawson Creek.  Norman and Rachel had six children:  Everett, Violet, Delbert, Lea, Harold and Bernard.  For details of this family see "The Little Family of Harvey Settlement 1786-1992" compiled by Janet Swan Watson, Brenda Saunders Swan and Jocelean Swan Hall.

 

    From newspaper obituary - 1982:

    Norman David Little, born in 1888 in Harvey Station, New Brunswick, moved to Vancouver in 1911 and then to the Peace River country and homesteaded in Rolla in 1914.

    He married Rachel Miller in 1918.  They had five sons and one daughter, Del, Lea, Bernard and Vi; Everett and Harold predeceased their father in 1928.  They also have seventeen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.

    He farmed for many years in the Rolla area, and moved to New Brunswick for 3 years, later returning to the Peace River district and taking up land in the Goodlow area.  In 1948 a new home was built in Dawson Creek where they lived until December 1981 when they moved into the Heritage Heights Senior Citizen apartments.

    Norman died in Dawson Creek Hospital on February 4 at the age of 93.

    Funeral services from Dawson Creek Alliance Church, February 9, 1982 at 2:00 pm.  Interment following cremation in the family plot at Rolla Cemetery.

 

    He married Rachel Emily Miller, 3 Apr 1918 in Rolla, BC . Born 11 Sep 1898.

    Daughter of Lea Henderson Miller (22 Jun 1870 - 9 Feb 1962) and Mary Lois Fey Miller (12 Nov 1873 - 24 Oct 1946) -- married 9 Apr 1891.

 

    They had the following children:
