299. Hugh Alvin Wilson. Son of Thomas Wilson & Eleanor Turnbull Grieve (link to Wilson family pages). Born 4 Oct 1884 in Harvey Sta. Died 25 Oct 1941 in McAdam. Buried in Harvey Setlement Cemetery. Occupation Farmer. Religion Presbyterian.
From undated newspaper item:
Nearly Another Hunting Tragedy
Hugh Wilson, of York County, Shot Through Arm in Fusilade of Companions.
Harvey Station, NB, Nov 2 -- Hugh Wilson, of the Rear Settlement, had a very narrow escape from death yesterday afternoon while hunting big game in company with three other young men. It seems that they located a deer which took refuse in a thick clump of woods near the Dead Brook. The men attempted to surround the deer, which made a bolt for liberty, coming into sight of some of the hunters, who opened fire on it. Mr Wilson happened to be in the line of fire and received a bullet through his arm near the shoulder. Dr. Dougan who dressed the wound, states that the bone was not injured and expects that Mr Wilson will be around in a short time, but if the bullet had been three inches nearer to his body, it would have been fatal.
From undated newspaper obituary:
