309. Gladys Elizabeth Wilson. Daughter of Thomas Wilson & Eleanor Turnbull Grieve (link to Wilson family pages). Born 31 May 1904 in Harvey, York Co, NB. Died 29 May 1978 in DECH, Fredericton. Buried in Lower Jemseg, Queens Co, NB. Occupation Teacher.
Gladys was a graduate of Provincial Normal School, Fredericton. She taught at various schools throughout New Brunswick. Gladys and Gordon had one son, and raised three foster daughters.

DYKEMAN -- At Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton, May 29, 1978, Gladys (Wilson) Dykeman; survived by her husband, Gordon Dykeman of Lower Jemseg, one son and three daughters, several nieces and nephews.
Resting at Orchard and Dykeman Funeral Home, Jemseg, NB, the funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 pm at St. James Anglican Church, Lower Jemseg. Interment in the adjoining cemetery.

Mrs Gordon Dykeman
Lower Jemseg -- The death of Mrs Gordon Dykeman offurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton. Born in Harvey Station, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Eleanor (Grieve) Wilson. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Harvey.
A graduate of the Provincial Normal School, she taught at various schools throughout New Brunswick. During her married life, she lived on the Pacific Coast, Fredericton, Saint John and Lower Jemseg.
Mrs Dykeman was very active as a volunteer worker, in community affairs, counselling young people and as a music teacher for District 24. She also was a member of the Welfare Board for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Gordon Dykeman; one son, Richard of Montreal; three daughters June of Moncton; Evelyn of Saint John and Wonita of Rothesay; three sisters, Miss Mabel Wilson, Portland, Me., Mrs Helen Kimball of Springfield, Mass., and Mrs Dora Gregg of Toronto; one brother, Willard Wilson of McAdam; one grandchild, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
The body rested at Orchard and Dykeman Funeral Home, Jemseg and funeral service was held in St. James Anglican Church, Lower Jemseg with Rev. Keith Brown of Riverview officiating, assisted by Rev. Westgate, Lower Jemseg.
Pallbearers were former students, Ronald Dykeman, Danny Knight, Henry Knight, James Knight, Peter Knight and Raymond Young of Jemseg. Interment was made in the family plot at Lower Jemseg.
She married James "Gordon" Dykeman, son of Bennett Manzer Dykeman & Alma A. Camp, Jan 1926 in St. Andrew's Kirk, Saint John, NB. Born 18 Oct 1901 in Lower Jemseg, Queens Co, NB. Died 12 Jun 1999 in Oromocto Public Hospital. Buried in Lower Jemseg, Queens Co.
Gordon and Gladys lived on the Pacific Coast (Hoquiam, WA and Vancouver Island, BC), Fredericton, Saint John and Lower Jemseg, NB. Gordon was a machinist for McAvity in Saint John, NB. In later years he had a welding shop in Lower Jemseg where he repaired farmers' machinery, etc. At age 95 he still planted a vegetable garden and flower garden, and piled wood for fuel. He was active in politics and drove his own car while in his nineties.
Gordon and Gladys had one son, Dick, and raised three foster daughters: June, Evelyn and Wonita Smith

DYKEMAN, J. Gordon
The death of Gordon Dykeman occurred on Saturday June 12, 1999 at the Oromocto Public Hospital. Born in Jemseg, N.B., he was the husband of the late Gladys (Wilson) Dykeman and the son of the late Bennett and Alma (Camp) Dykeman. He was the last surviving member of the immediate family.
Gordon is survived by one son Richard B. Dykeman and his wife Jean (Mitchell) Dykeman of Lower Jemseg, N.B.; three foster daughters, Wonita McPhee and her husband Richard and their two daughters Erin and Shauna of Quispamsis, N.B., June Burrows and her husband Craig and their two daughters, Natalie and Carrie of Ancaster, Ontario and Evelyn Smith of Sussex, N.B.; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Royden; three sisters, Marion, Maude and Bett.
The family will receive visitors at the Oromocto Funeral Home on Tuesday June 15, 1999 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday June 16, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. in the Oromocto Funeral Home Chapel with Canon Alvin Westgate officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial tributes made to the charity of the donors choice would be appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Oromocto Funeral Home, 108 Winnebago Street, Oromocto, N.B., 357-5100.
